High Altitude Awarenes

Important Altitude Advisory for your Event

Our stunning mountain venue sits at 9,200 feet — well above the threshold where many people experience effects from high altitude, especially if arriving directly from lower elevations (like sea level or Denver at ~5,280 ft).

While most guests adjust fine and enjoy the breathtaking views and crisp air, altitude can affect everyone differently. Common effects include:
  • Mild altitude sickness symptoms (also called acute mountain sickness): headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath (especially with activity), and trouble sleeping. These often feel like a bad hangover and usually improve within 1–2 days.

  • Faster dehydration — the air is drier and thinner here, so you lose moisture more quickly.

  • Alcohol hits harder and faster — even one or two drinks can feel like more due to lower oxygen levels, dehydration, and how your body processes alcohol at altitude. Many guests get unexpectedly tipsy

Tips to Help Everyone Feel Great and Celebrate Safely:

  • Hydrate aggressively — Drink plenty of water before arriving and throughout your stay (aim for at least double your normal intake). Skip or limit salty foods, caffeine, and alcohol for the first day or two if possible.

  • Arrive early if you can — Spend 1–2 nights at a lower elevation (e.g., Denver or a mid-mountain spot) to acclimate before heading up to 9,200 ft.

  • Take it easy — Avoid strenuous activity right after arrival. Rest, eat light carb-rich meals, and pace yourself during the day.

  • Go slow on alcohol — Consider the classic mountain rule: for every alcoholic drink, have two full glasses of water. Many couples provide extra water stations or hydrating favors!

  • Special considerations — If anyone is pregnant, has heart/lung conditions, or takes medications affected by altitude, consult a doctor in advance. Serious altitude issues are rare at this elevation but descent to lower altitude helps quickly if needed.

Oxygen canisters are available locally if anyone feels off (some couples even offer them as guest favors or have an oxygen bar setup).

We want your day to be magical and memorable for all the right reasons — so please share this info with your guests! If you have health concerns, feel free to reach out.
